Description

Curtain Call Theatre presents The Zoo Story and Trifles.

Directed by Michael Tabib, running March 21 – April 12

Our 2025 Season starts off with Two One-Act Plays

The Zoo Story

Edward Albee’s 1958 one-act play, concerns two characters, Peter and Jerry, who meet on a park bench in New York City’s Central Park. Peter is a wealthy publishing executive with a wife, two daughters, two cats, and two parakeets. Jerry is an isolated and disheartened man, desperate to have a meaningful conversation with another human being. The elements of ironic humor and unrelenting dramatic suspense are brought to a climax when we find out what really happens at the Zoo.

Trifles

Does Justice have many faces? Trifle, is by Susan Glaspell, American Playwright and Novelist from the early 20th Century. The play explores one facet that will shed light on an instance that gives us pause to reconsider our own notions about Justice.

Trifles may be considered the oldest and most obvious “feminist” American play from 1916. It was inspired by a true murder in 1900. Laced with irony, subtle humor, and insights into the human spirit. The play shares suspense and clear sighted contrast between men and women of that time in history. You, the audience, must make your own assessment of Justice as you see fit today.
