Coming to Russian River Hall from Nov 20 – Dec 5, 2026!

Crossing Delancey, a 1985 romantic comedy play written by Susan Sandler.

The story is simple. Isabelle is a young woman working in a New York bookstore in the 80s. Smart, busy, but single. Her Jewish grandmother worries and hires a matchmaker. Then a kind pickle seller enters the picture. He is not what Isabelle expected.

Many people know that feeling, pulled between old ways and new dreams. A charming, heartfelt story about family bonds and tradition. So mark your calendar, and get ready to be moved by this down-to-earth fairy tale presented by our amazing actors at Curtain Call Theatre.

Crossing Delancey Asks What Love Really Needs

It is celebrated as a heartwarming and humorous look at the clash between traditional Jewish-American immigrant culture and the modern, secular aspirations of the next generation.

Note:

The theater will open an hour early for all performances (6:30 evenings and 1:00 pm on matinees).
Come watch a slideshow on the history of the Lower East Side and immigration.
If you’re lucky you’ll even get to taste some special Jewish snacks: rugelach, noodle kugel, and egg creams.
